21 May 2021
We are saddened to announce that former Brooklands Museum Trustee, Baroness O’Cathain, recently passed away.
Baroness Detta O'Cathain, who died at the age of 83 on 23rd April, was a Trustee of the Museum and member of the Fundraising Committee from 5/7/2006 to 15/7/2009.
A businesswoman and Conservative politician, she was - amongst many appointments - Managing Director of the Milk Marketing Board of England and Wales (1984-89) and of the Barbican Centre (1990-95).
As a Non-Executive Director of British Airways (2000-2005) Detta O'Cathain was a strong supporter of the allocation of Concorde G-BBDG to the Museum in 2003, and during her time as a Trustee was instrumental in securing one of the largest individual donations that the Museum had received up until that time.
