A round up of news from the October newsletter

BMtv Milestone

In September BMtv passed the milestone of having had over one million plays of its videos on YouTube. The idea of recording talks and events at Brooklands started in 2016 when Steve Clarke was running the Members Talks and John Farley, the VTOL test pilot came to Brooklands to give us a talk about his life as an aviator. We thought it was a good idea to capture his story "for the archives". Within the first year we filmed John Surtees, Eric Winkle Brown, Howden Ganley, Jim Redman, Tony Brooks and Dave Richards to name a few and seven years later we have 600 videos on our Vimeo channel with some of these having migrated to our YouTube channel where we currently have 273 videos. YouTube has proven to be more accessible for our members and has taken over from Vimeo as our preferred supplier of our content. Our podcasts channel on Soundcloud has also grown in popularity recently and has had over 23,000 plays of its 160 podcasts. Columbus in the US, Perth and Sydney are the top three listener locations! Thank you for supporting us and we hope to continue to deliver diverse and quality content going forward.

Motorcycling Commemorations

27 October is the centenary of the first ever motorcycle Gold Star which was awarded to Herbert LeVack for completing a lap of the Brooklands Track at an average speed of 100.65 mph and on 17 November the Motorcycle Team will be commemorating the Centenary of the 1000cc V Twin Rudge’s 1922 world records. The Rudge is currently in the Museum workshop being prepared for a photoshoot and display to the Press on the Track. Other motorcycles will also be in action on the Finishing Straight. You can read about all the 1922 motorcycle highlights in the last issue of The Bulletin.
